Cheese Grilled Honey Bliss (Printable)

Buttery sourdough with melted sharp, mozzarella, and Gruyère cheeses, finished with a honey drizzle for sweet balance.

# What You'll Need:

→ Bread

01 - 4 slices sourdough or country-style bread

→ Cheeses

02 - 2 slices sharp cheddar cheese
03 - 2 slices mozzarella cheese
04 - 2 slices Gruyère cheese

→ Spread & Butter

05 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

→ Finishing Touch

06 - 2 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling

# Directions:

01 - Place a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat and allow it to warm through.
02 - Butter one side of each bread slice evenly, spreading to the edges for even browning.
03 - Place two bread slices butter-side down on a cutting board. Layer each with one slice sharp cheddar, one slice mozzarella, and one slice Gruyère.
04 - Drizzle 1 tablespoon honey over the layered cheese on each sandwich.
05 - Top with remaining bread slices, butter-side up, to form two complete sandwiches.
06 - Transfer to preheated skillet. Cook 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with spatula, until bread is golden brown and cheese is completely melted.
07 - Remove from pan, slice each sandwich in half diagonally, and drizzle with additional honey if desired. Serve while hot.

# Cooking Tips:

01 -
  • The honey creates this incredible sweet-savory moment that makes regular grilled cheese feel almost boring
  • Three cheeses melt into this perfect gooey mess that still holds together when you take that first bite
02 -
  • Medium heat is your friend. Too high and you'll burn the bread before the cheese has time to melt into gooey perfection.
  • The honey goes on the cheese, not the bread. I tried spreading it directly on the bread once and it created this strange sticky situation that refused to brown properly.
03 -
  • Use a knife to spread the honey. It's thicker than you think and a spoon makes a mess.
  • Cheese slices that slightly overlap the bread edge create these incredible crispy cheese edges that everyone fights over.
